Overall, Room by Emma Donoghue is a captivating book that I suggest for many others to read! Although it is written from the view-point of a five year old boy named Jack, it shows what life is like when a person is not living in reality. When the reader begins reading the book, it is somewhat difficult to comprehend the language of a five year old trapped in “Room”. As the reader of the book, the reader is not are not omniscient(all-knowing). The reader only knows as much as Jack. As Jack learns so does the reader, and while moving throughout the book, the reader begins to realize that Jack is happy and content with his present life, only because he does not know any better way of living; Room is how he was raised. However Ma does not feel the same way at all. She hates Room. Room takes the reader through a series of event all describing how imprisonment feels. I think that if you are a reader into fictional books, easy to read books with great conflicts, quests and resolutions, you will like Room.
