Catching Fire by Suzanne Collins is one of my favorite books. Initially I was very disturbed by the story line being that Panem takes innocent adults and children and pits them against one another to fight until death for the purpose of entertainment. However, once I moved beyond that, I was drawn into the various difficult situations in which Katniss Everdeen and Peeta Melark almost always know what to do. The book is quite captivating if you like to read thrilling, film-like books where the author describes the scenes in such vivid detail that the reader can picture the scenes of the book unfolding in front of his or her eyes. I think Catching Fire has the perfect balance of drama, friendships, love, and power. It is quite a futuristic book and makes the reader ponder whether or not our world might turn into this.
