In Divergent, the factionless are outcasts. Everyone looks down upon them as if they don't belong. They have to hide and sneak around and fight to survive because if they are discovered, it will be the end of them. This relates to the book Maus because in Maus, the Jews are hated, yelled at, talked about and mistreated. The Jews in the Holocaust had to run and hide to not be forced into the gas chambers and guaranteed a gruesome death. In both books, there is an oppressive government. In Divergent, the government is Abnegation, however the faction Erudite is taking over and setting traps and doing tests to find all of the Divergents. In Maus, the government during the Holocaust was run by the Nazis who would pick certain traits that show a character is a Jew and they would chase them and kill them in masses until they thought they killed them all. The Jews and the Divergents both had to go into hiding from their governments.
